Śrīpāda Vallabha Bhaktha Samaj began with a divine prompting.
He asked that Śrīpāda Vallabha Bhaktha Samaj be commenced.
Even the name “Śrīpāda Vallabha Bhaktha Samaj” was coined by Him.
Thus began a journey — not merely to form an organisation, but to create a space where devotees may come together in love, equality, harmony, compassion and service.
why did Swami choose the name Samaj?
samājam – Is a Sanskrit word.
samā means ‘unity’, equality and co-dwelling in harmony and peace.
This equality is beyond all differences or divisions based on caste or culture or status accorded by society.
aja means a troop or herd; also representing the beams/rays from the Sun.
That defines the larger purpose of the guild being formed.
The Samaj seeks to bring devotees together as fellow travellers
on the inner journey.
It aspires to be a space for remembrance, learning, reflection, Sanskrit, higher awareness, seva and the quiet discovery of the Divine within.
The logo is a visual contemplation of the journey of consciousness — represented through 2, 4, 8 and 9.
The two represents the dualities of creation. The subtle yellow and blue suggest the complementary principles of fire and water, and may also be contemplated through Atri Tattva and Anasūyā Tattva.
The four openings in the enclosing square represent the four states through which consciousness moves: Jāgrat (waking), Svapna (dream), Suṣupti (deep sleep) and Turīya — and to beyond that.
The eight represents the waters beneath the boat — the vast field of Māyā and Saṁsāra across which the journey takes place.
The nine is represented through His Hand — the Hand that stirs and guides the boat over the waters. It represents Paramātma Tattva — the Eternal.
2 and 4 — the forces and states through which we journey.
8 — the waters we cross.
9 — the Eternal that governs and guides the crossing.
