सरलवाक्यानि — Simple Sanskrit Sentences
वाक्यम्
Vākyam

A word carries meaning.
When words come together, they can express a complete thought.

श्रवणम् → उच्चारणम् → अभ्यासः → बोधनम्
Listen → Pronounce → Practise → Understand
🌱 From words to sentences
In the previous lesson we learned words.

Today we take one more small step.

We will learn to put words together and express simple thoughts in Sanskrit.

We will not begin with complicated grammar.
We will begin by seeing patterns.
👤 Who is speaking?
Let us first meet three very useful words:
अहम्
aham
I
त्वम्
tvam
you
वयम्
vayam
we
These simple pronouns occur frequently in beginner Sanskrit sentences. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}
🌼 Our first sentence
अहं गच्छामि।
ahaṃ gacchāmi
I go.
अहम्
+
गच्छामि
I + go
Notice something interesting:

अहम् means “I”.
गच्छामि means “I go”.

The verb itself tells us who is performing the action.

In Sanskrit, a sentence can therefore be very simple and still carry complete meaning. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}
🌱 One pattern — many expressions
Let us see how the same idea changes when the person changes.
अहं गच्छामि।
ahaṃ gacchāmi
I go.
त्वं गच्छसि।
tvaṃ gacchasi
You go.
वयं गच्छामः।
vayaṃ gacchāmaḥ
We go.
Do not try to memorise the grammar rule yet.

Simply observe:

अहम् → गच्छामि
त्वम् → गच्छसि
वयम् → गच्छामः

The form of the verb changes with the person and number of the subject. :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}
📖 Simple sentences
Now let us use some of the words we already know.

वयं पठामः।
vayaṃ paṭhāmaḥ

वयं गच्छामः।
vayaṃ gacchāmaḥ
We go.
सः गच्छति।

पठामि
paṭhāmi

🪷 Build a Sentence
Tap a sentence and read it slowly.
अहं नमामि।
ahaṃ namāmi — I bow / salute.
🌼 Do not worry about grammar yet
Sanskrit grammar is deep and beautiful.

But we do not need to study everything at once.

At this stage, simply notice that:

अहं गच्छामि।
means
I go.

And:

वयं गच्छामः।
means
We go.

First comes familiarity.
Understanding will deepen gradually.

You have used them to express a thought.

Read this slowly:

अहं नमामि।
ahaṃ namāmi

I bow.

Let the meaning settle before moving on.
🌼 You have begun to speak through Sanskrit
You have now moved through:

स्वराः — vowels
व्यञ्जनानि — consonants
मात्राः — vowel signs
शब्दाः — words
वाक्यानि — sentences
